Safe Boating Program for the Whole Family!

Individuals and family members under 21 years of age can attend a Boating Safety Course for FREE!!!

The St. Lucie River Power Squadron is offering our nationally certified America’s Boating Course 3rd Edition (ABC3) at no charge for persons under the age of 21.  We want to encourage younger boaters to learn safe boating techniques, know what safety equipment is required, understand the right and wrong way to pass other boats (Rules of the Road), how to tie marine knots, and learn how to read navigation charts with some basic charting exercises. 

America’s Boating Course 3rd Edition

The ABC3 course covers Federal and Florida State boating regulations.  The 1st family member under 21 will receive a Student Manual.  Additional family members under 21 can share a manual.  Age verification required to qualify for the FREE course.

One parent joining students under 21 will receive a discount off the full course price which includes a Student Manual.  Extra Student Manuals are available for purchase separately. See the “Under 21 Promotion Details” below for details.

The Safe Boating for Families Program is available for a limited time through Dec. 2024.  Students and family members taking advantage of this program are eligible for a 50% discount on their first year membership in the U.S. Power Squadrons and St. Lucie River Power Squadron.

Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card

Individuals completing the course earn the Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card. Temporary ID cards are issued upon completion of the course and final exam.  Permanent plastic ID cards are mailed a couple weeks later by the State of Florida.

Classes are held in the Boardroom (upstairs) at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club, 4725 SE Capstan Ave, Stuart, FL 34997. Please park near the main building away from the dock area. We recommend bringing something to eat for lunch.

America’s Boating Course 3rd Edition is certified by NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Laws Administrators). The course is taught by experienced instructors who are members of the St. Lucie River Power Squadron.
