The ABC3 course covers Federal and Florida State boating regulations. Students completing the course are eligible for an 18-month membership for their first year in the U.S. Power Squadrons. Among other benefits, members can take advanced courses for Free, a significant cost savings available exclusively to St. Lucie River Power Squadron members.
The ABC3 course is $60 (for non-members) and includes the Student Manual. Additional family members can attend for half price $30 and share a manual. Additional Manuals can be purchased for $32.

Student Manuals will be provided on a “loaner” basis for the duration of the Free course, but must be returned upon course completion. Manuals can be purchased separately if members would like a personal copy.
Payment:
We accept major credit cards or PayPal for payment. Online payments are processed using a PayPal app. The app accepts payments via credit card or a PayPal account if you have one. However, you do not need a PayPal account to pay for the course. Alternatively, you can pay by check made out to “SLRPS”.
Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card

Individuals completing the course earn the Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card. Temporary ID cards are issued upon completion of the course and final exam. Permanent plastic ID cards are mailed a couple weeks after by the State of Florida.

The St. Lucie River Power Squadron is offering our nationally certified America’s Boating Course 3rd Edition (ABC3) for FREE to persons 18 years of age or younger. Our goal is to encourage younger boaters to learn safe boating techniques by understanding what safety equipment is required, the importance of always wearing a life jacket, knowing the right and wrong way to pass other boats (Rules of the Road), learning how to tie marine knots properly, and learning how to read navigation charts with some basic charting exercises.
- We are dedicated to helping young persons become Smart and Safe Boaters!
- Students 18 years or younger can attend the ABC3 course for FREE
- Minors 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult
- Student Manuals will be provided on a temporary basis during the class, but must be returned at the the end
- Student Manuals can be purchased separately for $32 (see registration options)
- Age verification required for students 18 years or younger in order to qualify for the FREE ABC3 Course
- Open to boaters in Martin and St. Lucie counties
Location
Classes are held in the Boardroom (upstairs) at the Stuart Corinthian Yacht Club, 4725 SE Capstan Ave, Stuart, FL 34997. Please park near the main building away from the dock area. We recommend bringing something to eat for lunch.

America’s Boating Course 3rd Edition is certified by NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Laws Administrators). The course is taught by experienced instructors who are members of the St. Lucie River Power Squadron.
